5Great Deal  Oct 07, 2008
This was a great deal ... I paid less for this product online (cost of product plus shipping) than if I had taken my time to drive to the beauty supply store ... I will continue to order Hennalucent from Amazon ... the only way to go

Hennalucent is an excellent alternative to tradition hair color, and probably better for your hair too. It lasts long enough for my roots to grow out and tints grays so it looks like highlights. This is how it works: first, go to the dollar store and buy a package of shower caps and a bottle of conditioner. Wash your hair and leave it wet. Mix the powder with hot water to the consistency of pancake batter. I wear latex gloves and apply it in sections with a coloring brush, but you can use your hands just as well. Put on a shower cap and wait for about half an hour then get in the shower to rinse. It's going to feel very gritty! This is where the conditioner comes in - pour it on thick and work it though. After you rinse it, do it again. If you still feel gritty, do it again, but that's usually enough for me. Your hair will be incredibly shiny but it will smell a bit the first couple of days, not a chemical smell, just sort of weird. Note: I have medium brown hair and the earth brown was too dark. I mix it with a little sunset glo and blush blond. The great thing about this is you can play around with mixing colors until you find the right shade. Just remember that if you mix two packages of powder, you only need to use half of it and save the other half (dry) for next time.

5Easy and wonderful!  Aug 14, 2008
This turns my mousy hair a believable auburn--subtle enough that most of the relatives don't notice, but people who've just met me think I'm a redhead. The wonderful, natural-looking color aside, one of the best aspects of this is that it's powdered. Many other henna products can be cumbersome, with grating and boiling and leaving it in forever. With this, it's just add a bit of boiling water, stir until it's thick like honey then apply. Once it's in, you wait no more than an hour and rinse. (This is the lightest Hennalucent color I can use, so I leave it in longer. People with lighter hair leave it in for less and can blend with Neutral, like an earlier reviewer suggested.) It's much less effort than other henna products and doesn't stink and fade like synthetic colors do.

5Wonderful, SAFE product.  May 20, 2008
Hennalucent's Sunset Glo and Neutral products are terrific. I use one teaspoon of the Glo to three tablespoons of the Neutral to perfectly recreate my natural color. Washing does not cause the color to fade, at least within the time (~2.5 weeks) that passes before I need another cut-and-color. (My hair grows very quickly.)

I would caution you only to experiment by mixing a large proportion of the Neutral with the Sunset Glo (or other Hennalucent shades), to avoid an unnatural color. The Sunset Glo used without Neutral produces a somewhat green color, because henna is a plant of course.

5Long time user  Feb 23, 2007
It's great if you are looking for permanent color. It may fade a little, but not much. It adds auburn highlights to brown hair. It is not meant to cover gray, and it says not to use it if you are more than 15% gray. I started using it on my brown hair while in my twenties. I am now 65% gray and my hair is truly red - close to "Addison" on Grey's Anatomy. I get a lot of compliments. I now have roots to touch up frequently. Your roots will not be noticable if you do not have much gray. It will blend the gray in. The grayer you become, the brighter red the color. It actually conditions your hair. Mine is very soft and silky. I now mix Sunset Glo with Sparkling Burgundy for my desired color.
